about
Each month of the year 2023, Ghost Food are releasing a special track celebrating and honoring that particular moon... Each track will also be a collaboration featuring a different noise/abstract/experimental musician from various locations and environments.
The 1st of these lunar tracks is “Wolf Moon” and features Portland-based composer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Caspar Sonnet. The Wolf Moon moon is named after the howling of hungry wolves lamenting the scarcity of food in midwinter. Other names for January’s moon include Old Moon and Ice Moon.
Caspar Sonnet (b.1976 Los Angeles, CA) has been composing and performing experimental/improvisational music since 1997. Sonnet’s multi-instrumentalist abilities include: lap steel, pump organ, harmonica, voice & percussion. His interests are in acoustic phenomena, amplification, just intonation, gestural playing, feedback, instrument augmentation, extended technique and use of hourglass as a way to influence improvisation. Sonnet also curates a performance series entitled “Discordance” featuring noise/improv artists both near/afar and is a member of the Extradition Ensemble.
